Questions and answers
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions owners, managers, developers, and residents ask most often about managed Wi-Fi, bulk internet, television, phone, pricing, installation, and support.
What does ResidentFi do?
ResidentFi provides managed Wi-Fi, bulk internet, streaming television, and phone service for entire multi-dwelling properties: apartment communities, student housing, senior living, military housing, condominiums, and campuses. We design, install, monitor, and support the network, and residents call us directly.
Where does ResidentFi provide service?
Nationwide. We serve properties in all 50 states from our headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada, with network operations around the clock and technicians dispatched to every market. We maintain city pages for the 50 largest metropolitan areas, and we serve communities well beyond them.
What is the difference between managed Wi-Fi and bulk internet?
Bulk internet is a purchasing model: one property-wide agreement that covers every unit. Managed Wi-Fi is the network that delivers it, with an enterprise access point in every unit and coverage across the property. Most ResidentFi communities use both together.
How do residents get connected?
Residents receive a network name and password at move-in, or set their own through the resident portal, and every device connects immediately. There is no modem, no installer appointment, and no call to a cable company.
Who do residents call for support?
ResidentFi. Our U.S.-based support team answers by phone, text, email, and chat 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Leasing and maintenance staff have a separate line.
How is the service paid for?
Most communities include ResidentFi service in rent or a technology package at a per-unit cost far below retail and keep a margin. Agreements can be owner-funded or structured as network-as-a-service, in which ResidentFi owns and maintains the equipment for a monthly fee.
Can ResidentFi retrofit an existing building?
Yes. We retrofit occupied buildings in short, announced windows, reuse sound existing cabling, and bring the new network up alongside the old one so residents move over without a day offline.
Does ResidentFi provide television?
Yes. Live channels, cloud DVR, and on-demand programming are delivered through an app on the resident's smart TV, phone, or tablet, with no set-top box or coax. Common-area screens and digital signage ride the same network.
Can ResidentFi replace our elevator and fire alarm phone lines?
Yes. We provide monitored connections for elevator, fire alarm, entry gate, and pool emergency phones, designed around the code requirements for each line, as part of our phone service.
Does the network support smart locks and thermostats?
Yes. Every ResidentFi design includes a dedicated, secured network for building systems, so smart locks, thermostats, leak sensors, cameras, and access control run reliably without a hub in every unit.
How long does installation take?
A retrofit of a typical community is usually completed in a few weeks, with minutes of access per unit. New construction follows the construction schedule, and the network is live for the first move-in.
